8. Paul Pressey

Few players were more important to the Bucks’ stellar efforts throughout the 1980s than the exceptionally versatile, intelligent and skilled Paul Pressey.

The fact that Milwaukee picked up such an important player in the latter part of the first round shouldn’t be underestimated in their sustained high-level play either.

Pressey was picked with the 20th pick of the 1982 NBA Draft by the Bucks, a draft that over the course of time would also see notable success stories like Terry Cummings and Ricky Pierce thrive in Milwaukee too.

By conventional measures, Pressey isn’t necessarily the kind of flashy player capable of producing standout numbers to emphasize his status as a draft steal, but whether as a starter or a bench player, the Virginia native contributed immensely to the Bucks’ successful philosophies on both ends.

Pressey was named to three All-Defensive teams, including twice on the First Team, during his time as a Buck, and remains the franchise’s all-time assists leader to this day, while also ranking top-10 all-time in steals and games played for the Bucks. Not bad for a 20th overall pick.
