Kevin Huerter

After showing out at this year’s NBA Draft Combine, Kevin Huerter bucked the expectation that he would head back to school and decided to keep his name in this year’s draft past the early entry deadline.

The reasons for that has been a result of Huerter reportedly making a strong impression on teams around the league and there have been rumors that the Albany native has secured a late first round promise after shutting down workouts and subsequently undergoing surgery to repair torn ligaments in his hand as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported late last week.

It’s easy to see why Huerter has garnered significant buzz as he could very well up being the most dynamic shooter of the draft. Over his two seasons at Maryland, Huerter sank 138 of his 350 three-point attempts, which comes out at 39.4 percent.

Aside from his adept range shooting proficiency, Huerter is capable of hitting shots off the dribble and could flesh that out into becoming a passable creator for others over time.

It’s on the defensive end where many of the questions around Huerter lie, due to the fact that he doesn’t possess average physical tools (6’7″ with a 6’7.5″ wingspan), is lacking in his lateral quickness and could stand to add strength to his frame.

But if a prospect holds an elite skill as Huerter does with his shooting, the myriad of ways he could become a weapon for any team around the league, much less the Bucks, makes him a desirable pick at this position in the draft.
