Milwaukee’s returning Summer Leaguers

Preparing for their respective second seasons in the NBA, D.J. Wilson and Sterling Brown will likely face very different scrutiny as they return to Las Vegas for another edition of NBA Summer League.

Brown’s opportunity certainly fluctuated throughout the course of his rookie year, but he did at least manage meaningful spells where it appeared as if he could be a key part of Milwaukee’s rotation in both the short and the long term.

The story for Wilson was very different, though, and as the team’s first round pick in 2017, the level of pressure he will face in his sophomore season is not to be underestimated. That feeling will likely begin in Summer League too.

Wilson has already witnessed the departure of a 17th overall pick from Milwaukee before the conclusion of their rookie contract, and he’ll be hoping to enjoy a very different fate to Rashad Vaughn‘s over the coming years.

In an ideal world, both Brown and Wilson will look a class above their Summer League opponents and appear ready to meaningfully contribute next season. Heading into play, that scenario is only easy to envision for one of the pair, though, and it’s not the former first round pick.
