Donte’s debut?

Of course, the most exciting element of this year’s event in Las Vegas for Milwaukee Bucks fans is the chance to get a closer look at the team’s 17th overall pick, Donte DiVincenzo.

Friday could certainly be the stage for the former Villanova Wildcat’s debut, although reports suggest that injury may yet postpone that until a later date.

If DiVincenzo is in fact healthy enough to take to the floor at Cox Pavilion on Friday, it’s fair to say expectations will be high from those watching on from a Milwaukee perspective.

Summer League seems like an environment and an event tailor-made for a player with the experience, pedigree and skill-set that DiVincenzo has to offer. Considering how much has been spoken about his readiness to contribute, there may even be a degree of pressure on the 21-year-old to impress against a level of competition which is by no means on a par to the NBA.

That’s not to suggest that DiVincenzo’s play in Summer League will make or break his rookie season in the NBA, as months of hard work, learning and development will separate his Summer League play to an official debut in the NBA. On the other side of the coin, though, the confidence that comes from a strong showing in Vegas could certainly set the rookie up for an impressive season.
