Wood looking to build on hot start

Christian Wood didn’t just stand out among Milwaukee’s players on the first day of Summer League in Las Vegas, but he was arguably one of the most impressive performers across the entirety of the games played so far.

Wood played a total of 23 minutes in the Bucks’ dominant win over the Pistons, chipping in with a vital 23 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks on 9-of-15 from the field.

Even with solid performances from D.J. Wilson and Sterling Brown, no player had a greater influence on the final outcome of the game than Wood did.

Considering Wood’s situation, that performance could end up being incredibly important and would likely grow only more relevant if he could follow it up with a similar display against the Mavericks.

Although the 22-year-old finished the season with the Delaware 87ers (now the Delaware Blue Coats) in the G League, he wasn’t on a two-way contract, making him an NBA free agent. Whether it’s the Bucks or another team around the league, Wood is likely to receive meaningful interest from NBA teams if he can continue to excel in Summer League.
