How Morris fits the Bucks

The expectation is to see Morris log the majority of his playing time as a member of the Wisconsin Herd next year, much like fellow two-way player Trevon Duval.

How he figures in the Bucks’ plans under Budenholzer is unknown at this point, but considering their familiarity with one another as well as Longstaff coaching him while both were in Erie last season, it’s easy to see what drew Morris to spurning the deal he had in place in Italy to continue his dream of sticking around in the NBA.

Above all else, though, the juxtaposition of the respective journeys both Duval and Morris have taken and how it’s led them to Milwaukee is an interesting one to ponder at this stage in light of the latter’s addition.

As it relates to Morris, rising from the ranks of Division-II basketball to the NBA in just a year’s time is quite remarkable, even when taking into account the opportunity coming with a rebuilding Hawks team.

But like Morris has been quick to point out when talking about the chance given to him, the goal is to stick in the NBA regardless of where that might be. Considering his age, the strides he’s already taken and some of the NBA-ready qualities he currently displays, Morris’ unlikely journey to just reach the NBA may be setting the table for something greater.

So although it’s rightfully deserved to point out the connection Morris has to Coach Bud and Longstaff and how significant of a part that played in the decision to bring him on a two-way deal, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see him garner limited NBA minutes over the course of next year if the circumstances dictate that.

Now whether Morris can elevate his game further and iron out the deficiencies he currently sports while in Milwaukee and under the Bucks organization as a whole is the big question with his arrival.

How he goes about it will be the next test on Morris’ path and the outcome of it will be significant in determining the chapters that remain in this unforeseen success story.
