Continuing playmaking ways

Throughout his rather underwhelming stay in Milwaukee, one of the rare things the Bucks have been able to depend on with Dellavedova has been his reliable handling of the ball and steady playmaking.

While very far from a high usage player, Delly’s penchant for looking to keep the ball moving within the Bucks’ offense, display good vision directing his teammates to advantageous spots on the floor and occasionally thread the needle with some degree of difficulty have been rare beacons of hope amid his overall struggles.

For instance, Dellavedova maintained a 2.68 assist-to-turnover ratio for his first year in Milwaukee and a 2.96 assist-to-turnover ratio during his shortened campaign last season. Those marks stood well when compared to his point guard counterparts from around the league as my fellow co-site expert Adam McGee touched on over the offseason:

"“Last season’s assist-to-turnover ratio placed Dellavedova 19th in the NBA among players who played at least 30 games, while according to Cleaning the Glass, his assist-to-usage rate of 1.68 put Dellavedova in the 98th percentile among point guards.”"

Those traits certainly check the boxes regarding the hallmarks of Budenholzer-led offenses and hopefully Dellavedova will keep up his level of distribution in the minutes he sees throughout the season.
