Return of the irritant

There’s no question one of the calling cards in Dellavedova’s arsenal since entering the NBA is his patented grittiness and hard-nosed play.

That, of course, comes through more so on the defensive end as the Australian international’s intangibles and qualities more than make up his services on that end of the floor. As a result, Delly’s tough-minded nature can spill over into incidents here and there as seen both in Milwaukee and during his three seasons with the Cavs.

Although experiencing the occasional dust up isn’t a requirement by any means, it would be extremely beneficial to see Delly’s irritant ways impact the Bucks’ potential defensive potency under Coach Bud.

Delly’s brand of engaged on-ball defending can be used as an effective change of pace when compared to Bledsoe and Brogdon. With that said, the athletic limitations that are present in the former Gael’s game makes leaning on him for heavy or critical minutes a tough proposition.

Punching above his weight will always be Delly’s specialty and there are ways for him to hold strong when matched up against opposing reserve guards throughout the coming season.
