Boosting three-point efficiency

Throughout his four years at Southern Methodist University, Brown stood as an incredibly efficient knock down shooter from downtown.

Although it would be fair to describe that it came on a small sample size (284 three-point attempts), Brown connecting on 45.1 percent of his looks from beyond the arc only stoked the buzz about how well his range shooting ability would translate to the NBA level.

As it turns out, Brown’s adjustment to finding his touch from NBA range was not as smooth of a transition as Bucks fans were hoping it would be heading into last year’s campaign as he hit on 35.2 percent of his 91 attempts from that level of the floor for the season.

That’s still a respectable return for any first year player, but considering Brown’s three-point shooting pedigree in college, his inconsistencies in that department led to it feeling a little underwhelming with the level of expectation surrounding him in that sense.

It’s fair to wonder how much of that played into Brown’s diminished role late in the season and during the Bucks’ playoff run under former head coach Joe Prunty, even though Brown’s defensive appeal certainly made a case for him being out there to boost the team’s versatility.

Under Coach Bud, Brown won’t have to deal with the archaic offensive principles that troubled the Bucks under the previous coaching regime. But with that, being able to stand as an effective option from long distance stands as the highest priority for his offensive skill set.
