Milwaukee Bucks: 5 goals for Malcolm Brogdon in 2018-19 season
Showcase facilitating under new role
Brogdon’s role likely being expanded into the starting lineup at the 2-spot to start the year will certainly shake up the role he grew accustomed to serving over the last two seasons, that coming at the point guard position.
Under that role, Brogdon’s solid distribution and pure point guard ability brought some much needed stability at that spot in the team’s depth chart and in the midst of the struggles fellow point guard Matthew Dellavedova has experienced since joining the fray.
Now, the adjustment Brogdon will experience from often acting as an initiator or lead ball-handler to setting up shop on the wing will bring out the best of his off-ball tendencies and overall complementary play.
Still, Brogdon’s new utilization will have ripple effects in terms of flexing his playmaking muscles and we’ll have to pay attention to how many lineups will feature him at the tip of the spear, so to speak.
With that said, there’s still ways for Brogdon to influence quality looks for his teammates and the increased ball movement we’re already seeing from the Bucks’ improved offense under Coach Bud will lend itself to that throughout the season.
To what degree, that remains to be seen, but with how well rounded he stood in that regard, it’s an element of Brogdon’s play that will hopefully come across once the season opens up in less than a week’s time.
