Wisconsin Herd: Meeting the 2018-19 opening night roster
V.J. Beachem
Another swingman, V.J. Beachem will bring his noted range shooting prowess to the Fox Valley by playing for the Herd this season.
The Herd acquired Beachem’s player rights in a deal with the South Bay Lakers in exchange for the rights to James Blackmon Jr. in mid-October. During his lone season with the Lakers’ affiliate, Beachem averaged 8.5 points on shooting splits of .437/.404/.875 and 2.3 rebounds in 19.8 minutes throughout his 36 appearances last year.
Before hitting the professional ranks, Beachem made his name as a prospect while at Notre Dame University where he spent all four years on the college level. While in South Bend, the Indiana native garnered some draft buzz as a potential late second round pick after both his junior and senior seasons, but that unfortunately did not come to fruition for the 23-year-old when he eventually made the jump.
As an aside, Beachem did come through Milwaukee for a draft workout during the pre-draft process before the 2017 NBA Draft.
