Paint by numbers

While the Bucks’ three-point activity and more specifically, Lopez’s showing from that level of the floor, will catch all sorts of attention, it was their strong and methodical attacking of the paint that really fueled their stomping on the Pistons on Tuesday night.

On the night, the Bucks finished with 66 points in the paint, their third-highest total for a single game this season. By comparison, the Pistons managed to only convert 34 points in the painted area.

With that kind of disparity, it was clearly a concerted and total team effort to get within the heart of the Pistons’ half hearted defense and capitalize time and time again. The Bucks’ superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo shined in this regard as he regularly does, but the athletic finishes from the likes of Eric Bledsoe and Malcolm Brogdon also stood out for scores in this fashion.

So, although the Bucks’ three-point revolution continues to get plenty of play both locally and nationally, and rightfully so, the Bucks being able to maintain their interior scoring production will continue to be as critical of an element in their shot profile throughout the remainder of the year.
