Milwaukee Bucks: 3 takeaways from 131-115 win over Washington Wizards
A Thon update
Having now been a week since his trade request was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bucks’ win over the Wizards made it very clear that the Thon Maker isn’t close to seeing his wish of seeing more playing time be granted any time soon.
Maker registered his fifth straight DNP-CD Saturday night and while that’s not all that noteworthy in itself, the fact that fellow big man Christian Wood saw his first minutes with the Bucks in nearly two months shows he has leaped over Maker for clean up crew minutes. That made Maker the lone Bucks player who didn’t see any action for the night, given that Eric Bledsoe was held out for the night with soreness in his left Achilles.
Afterwards, Maker discussed his present situation, his overall mentality and focus on the team’s success to both ESPN’s Malika Andrews and Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported after the win Saturday night that Maker’s ‘in play’ for several teams around the league as the Bucks continue to discuss potential deals ahead of the trade deadline Thursday afternoon.
While it may still be a quiet deadline for the Bucks mere days from now, it’s increasingly looking like there is no light at the end of the tunnel for Maker to regain his spot within the depth chart. But whether he’ll get his wish of receiving minutes with a move elsewhere is yet to be seen.
The Bucks will continue their five-road trip Monday night with a visit to the Barclays Center where they’ll take on the surging Brooklyn Nets for a 6.30 p.m. central time tip off.
