Down low Lopez

If you were told heading into Saturday’s game that Brook Lopez was going to make just a single of his five three-point attempts, you could be forgiven for not expecting a starring performance from the Bucks veteran center.

On this occasion, though, Lopez provided a reminder of just how versatile and skilled he really is to everyone watching Milwaukee’s victory over Charlotte.

Turning back the clock and settling into the post, Lopez worked the Hornets’ big men inside with his variety of nimble post moves, and overwhelmed them with his incredible size.

In racking up 25 points, Lopez was a perfect 6-of-6 from inside the arc. Not only was the 30-year-old able to feast in the paint, but he also drew frequent fouls to give himself countless chances to score at the line. In an outstanding third quarter, Lopez took over to accrue 18 of his total points.

Ultimately, Lopez joined Giannis Antetokounmpo in producing a perfect 10-of-10 shooting effort from the free throw line, and provided a welcome reminder that on a night when the Bucks’ stars are struggling or the team’s primary plan isn’t quite clicking, Lopez’s inside scoring touch represents a phenomenal contingency option.
