Donte DiVincenzo

Preseason prediction: Will score more than 20 points in at least one game

Verdict: *Sad face*

This one hurts. Before the season I was cautiously optimistic that DiVincenzo could eventually become a role player off the bench, but I had no idea that he would crack the rotation from opening night.

Almost immediately, The Big Ragu became one of my favorite bench players for the Bucks with his high-flying athleticism and nose for the ball. He was like if you put Delly’s hustle into a bigger, more athletic Italian boy from Delaware.

DiVincenzo’s rookie season was on its way to being special before injuries derailed it to the point where he only appeared in 27 games before being shut down for the season in March. Even when he did play, he was dealing with injuries and couldn’t reach the success he had in the first few weeks of the season.

The closest DiVincenzo got was a 15-point game against Orlando, which is impressive considering it was just his sixth career game. With a full season, I have little doubt my Italian son could have broken the 20-point mark.

We’ll just have to wait until next season for The Big Ragu to have his big breakout performance.

Running tally: 3/12, 1 push
