Milwaukee Bucks 2018-19 Season Review: Pat Connaughton
By Adam McGee
Summer focus and final grade
Considering the bargain deal he’s tied down to for next season, it’s almost a certainty that Pat Connaughton will be back in Milwaukee next season.
That leaves him with a very different summer outlook than many of his teammates, and a chance to really put in work ahead of the new campaign.
Being who he is, Connaughton’s summer will undoubtedly involve hitting the weight room, perhaps even doing so alongside his regular workout buddy, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
More than anything, though, Connaughton’s summer focus should be his shooting. Making just 33 percent of his triples, Connaughton recorded his worst long-range shooting campaign since his rookie season.
By and large, his shooting stroke looks like a thing of beauty, and he does all that he needs to in terms of getting to the right spots for quality looks. As a result, it’s something of a mystery as to why Connaughton doesn’t knock down shots at a much higher rate.
If he could adjust that for next season, it would make for a major improvement for the Bucks. And by his own account, that’s certainly the plan.
Otherwise, his coach and teammates will know what they’re getting from Connaughton on a nightly basis, and that’s valuable in its own right.
