Game of the season

George Hill entered into the postseason high on confidence following a strong run of form to round out the regular season, and his playoff performances in the first two rounds only further fueled that positive momentum.

In terms of individual performance, that led to Hill reaching the pinnacle of his season in Game 3 against the Toronto Raptors.

With Milwaukee’s starting five playing well below par, it was up to the Bucks’ bench to carry much of the load in what proved to be a double overtime game. Malcolm Brogdon played his part with 20 points, but it was Hill who led the way.

Playing at his aggressive best, Hill scored 24 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, 3-of-4 from deep, and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. In addition to his scoring, Hill grabbed seven rebounds, dished out two assists and picking off two steals.

Hill’s defense was also at its usual high level, but it was his offense that really stood out. In particular, the Bucks never would have made it to the second overtime in the first place if not for crucial left corner threes from Hill in the final minutes of regulation and in the first extra period.

Many of the Bucks may spend the summer thinking about their Game 3 struggles and how even a slightly better showing may have made the difference, and helped their team to a 3-0 lead. Hill needn’t be one of them, though, as he produced his best of the year under that pressure.
