Weaknesses

There’s certainly elements of a tweener about Davis as, fully developed, many of his skills may be best suited to him being a versatile forward, but his size would likely dictate more of a backcourt role.

That doesn’t have to be an insurmountable stumbling block, though, and particularly if an NBA strength and conditioning staff can help him to become a much stronger player for his size.

The most troubling element of Davis’ game is undoubtedly his shooting, as in many ways it will determine what kind of player he could be.

If his shot doesn’t come good, Davis would likely be limited to being a specialist defender more than anything else. His playmaking ability is a positive, but it still stands out as a part of his game that needs to function in a complementary capacity.

Shooting 37.1 percent from deep on 5.3 attempts from deep per game in his senior year is certainly encouraging, but questions about whether that would hold up at NBA range certainly have merit.

Overall, Davis was just a 33.9 percent shooter from three in his four years at Mississippi. Perhaps the fact his free throw shooting also hit a career-best mark of 77.2 percent last season suggests a corner has been turned on that front, though.
