Strengths

Coming in a little over 6’4″ and possessing a 6’8″ wingspan, Dort possesses a striking physical profile for a modern-day NBA guard/wing. Rounding it all out is his explosive athleticism and great quickness, both in terms of his blow by speed with the ball in his hands and moving laterally on the defensive end.

Offensively, Dort is at his most comfortable creating scoring opportunities for himself as evidenced by the 27.9 usage percentage he logged in his one year at Arizona State. And while Dort is a very willing to penetrate through the paint and get to the basket, he does have a knack for getting to the free throw line at a high level, judging by the 48.1 free throw rate he tallied this season.

There are plenty of questions surrounding his shot at this point in his development, but Dort does stand as a capable shot maker off the dribble. Per a Synergy Sports profile on the Montreal native, Dort converted 1.00 points per possession on situations when he pulled up from any spot on the floor, which ranked in the 85th percentile of players in the NCAA.

The last note on Dort’s offensive services is that he’s incredibly active off the ball and possesses great timing regarding when to zip towards the bucket to help teammates get out of a jam, etc.

Switching sides, Dort showcases to be an absolute bulldog defensively and it’s quite evident that he embraces the responsibilities on that end of the floor as he plays with great intensity that he pairs well with his impressive athletic tools.
