KZ Okpala

KZ Okpala is undeniably raw, but that leaves plenty of room for projection as to what he could be, and when you consider the tools he already has in place that leaves valid cause for intrigue and excitement.

Measuring in at over 6’9″ and with a near 7’2″ wingspan, Okpala certainly has the size to play as more of an outright forward in the NBA. But with a slightly slimmer frame, and a skill-set that should leave him comfortable putting the ball on the floor and letting fly from deep, Okpala could be best suited to thriving on the wing as the likes of Kevin Durant and Brandon Ingram have done with similar body types.

Okpala’s fundamentals will need some work from a quality development staff, but there’s certainly plenty of encouragement in what he was able to show in two years at Stanford as a defender, along with the progress he made as a shooter during his sophomore season.

Drafting Okpala is undoubtedly a project, and that may well be enough to keep him on the board into Milwaukee’s range. But the base tools are already in place, so it shouldn’t be ruled out that Okpala could develop faster than anticipated if he lands in the right environment.
