Weaknesses

There are plenty of reasons for why Bol holds the most volatile draft stock of any prospect in this class.

It all starts with questions about Bol’s work ethic, conditioning and overall durability, which have long followed him before his lone year in Eugene this year. The fact that Bol’s freshman year was limited to nine games as a result of suffering a stress fracture on his navicular bone in his left foot, which needed surgery to repair it, only magnifies those concerns.

In related news, Bol reportedly came in 30 pounds lighter at this year’s NBA Draft Combine than his listed weight with the Ducks and he was already carrying a wiry frame to begin with. Whether Bol can ever fill out his body without losing his mobility or doing further damage to his body will be one of many questions he’ll have to answer.

Because of his strength concerns, Bol often shies away from contact on both ends of the floor, which will surely be amplified on the next level.

And because his game firmly lies on the raw side, Bol’s understanding of the game and lacking fundamentals are big hurdles that will require plenty of development and patience by the team that ultimately ends up selecting the Sudanese-born Bol.
