Looking at China

Milwaukee will be facing off against the Chinese national team Wednesday night, who are preparing to be the host country for next month’s FIBA World Cup.

Team China is essentially using Summer League to tune up for the event to both form their roster and acclimate to the high level of talent and competition they will be facing throughout the tournament as head coach Li Nan told Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press this week:

"“There’s high expectation so we’ve got to be ready and we’ve got to raise the pressure,” China coach Li Nan said earlier Monday. “Not just the players, also the coaching staff. We need to concentrate on our details, do preparations now, concentrate on our stuff.”"

China is coming off of their first Summer League win after they fended off the Charlotte Hornets Monday night in a 84-80 win. They previously fell to the Miami Heat as well as the Sacramento Kings in their opening pair of Summer League contests.

The 20-man roster features past NBA draft picks such as Zhou Qi and NBA hopeful Abudushalamu Abudurexiti. Former Bucks first-round pick Yi Jianlian was slated to play during Summer League, but is being held out due to an injury.
