Milwaukee Bucks: 3 things to watch for in preseason duel with Utah Jazz
Cleaning up turnovers
By far, the biggest black mark on the Bucks’ performance against the Bulls the other night was the lack of ball security and general sloppiness they displayed on the offensive end throughout the night.
Tallying 24 turnovers in any setting, regardless of whether it’s in the regular season, preseason or even during Summer League, as the Bucks did against the Bulls, won’t sit will with any coach and that’s certainly the case with Budenholzer.
The fact that the Bucks allowed the Bulls to score 36 points off of those turnovers is a mark to improve on as well, especially after ranking second in terms of allowing the fewest amount of points off turnovers last year behind the Charlotte Hornets, per NBA.com/stats.
Of course, the Bucks being shorthanded and down their lead playmakers like Antetokounmpo, Bledsoe, and Middleton is intertwined with their mishandling of the ball and sloppy play.
But as Budenholzer and co. continue to experiment with depth pieces taking on more ball handling and playmaking responsibilities, better execution with the ball and setting up the team’s offense will be one way to ensure those doing similar things throughout the regular season.
For fans looking to catch the Bucks’ meeting with the Jazz, tip-off is at 7pm CT on Wednesday night.
