The MVP reigns in OKC

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo worked out his emotions before letting loose throughout the second half to lead the way in the Bucks’ win over the Thunder Sunday night.

Playing nearly 36-and-a-half minutes of action, Antetokounmpo finished with 35 points on 13-of-19 shooting from the field (2-for-3 from three, 7-for-9 from the foul line), 16 rebounds, seven turnovers, three assists, one steal and one block, and was a +15 on the night.

As has largely been the case in his performances through the Bucks’ road trip, Antetokounmpo was rather pedestrian by his lofty standards throughout the team’s inconsistent and frustrating first half. And Antetokounmpo’s frustrations came to a boil entering halftime after he went 0-for-2 during a trip to the free throw line, the second miss being an airball, and took his anger out on his jersey collar and kicking a Thunder team sign upon entering the tunnel going into the break.

Once play picked back up in the second half, the 24-year-old aired out his frustrations in a more productive manner by proceeding to score 24 of his 35 total points over the third and fourth quarters, eventually giving Antetokounmpo his fifth straight 30-point game.

That came with Antetokounmpo packing in highlight-worthy scores, including a sequence where the reigning MVP ripped the ball away from Thunder guard Chris Paul, hit a streaking George Hill, who quickly pitched the rock back to Antetokounmpo and the Greek phenom threw down an absolute monster of a dunk to give the Bucks a 7-point lead.

There are still some issues to be worked out for Antetokounmpo, the biggest of which being his incessant turnovers. But Antetokounmpo continues to shine, especially during second halves, and it’s resulted in him finding his groove over the Bucks’ last six games or so.
