Keeping the streak alive

As anyone who even pays the slightest bit of attention to the Milwaukee Bucks likely knows, Mike Budenholzer’s team are on quite a roll right now.

The Bucks have won eight consecutive games, which means that even at this early point of the season, they’ve achieved something they were unable to in their prolific 60-win campaign last year (when they won seven straight on two separate occasions). The truth, though, is that it’s been considerably longer since the Bucks have done anything quite like this.

If the Bucks can beat the Hawks on Wednesday to pick up their ninth straight win, it will be the franchise’s longest winning streak since they had a 10-win run, which ended on February 28, 1986. Yes, that is almost 34 years ago.

No NBA team can get to a spot like this without abiding by the old cliches of taking each game as it comes, but from an outsider’s perspective looking ahead at the schedule certainly suggests there’s a possibility that this current streak could be stretched to lengths that the franchise hasn’t achieved since its halcyon days in the 1970s.

The Bucks can’t worry about any of that just yet, though, as it could all come crashing down with the Hawks if any complacency slips in.
