Picking things up again

After a too close for comfort win against the Memphis Grizzlies on New Year’s Day, the Bucks should not be lacking in motivation to deliver a much improved, and more typical performance in this one.

The fact that the Bucks have had a couple of days off since that has likely only further increased the urgency for something of a bounce-back effort too.

That can even be parsed from Mike Budenholzer’s own comments in the last few days. After the game against the Grizzlies, in conversation with Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Coach Bud noted, “I don’t know that we necessarily played well or made a lot of plays that we need to make in close games.”

Again speaking to Velazquez, on Friday, Budenholzer left no doubt when pressed about the prospect of his team having letdown games.

"“We don’t do it,” Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said Friday following practice, a rare occurrence due to the team’s recent busy schedule. “Just hopefully the guys keep coming to work, keep getting better, same mantras, same stuff.”"

Reading between the lines, the Bucks may feel the need to make something of a statement with their showing on Saturday against the Spurs.
