Getting to know the Spurs

The Bucks and Spurs will face each other twice this season, and in something of an unusual schedule quirk, those two meetings come in the span of three days.

After Saturday’s matchup at Fiserv Forum, the attention of both teams will turn to San Antonio, for the second leg of this home-and-home series.

That means that the Bucks will get to know the Spurs very well over the next few days, at least as much as the Spurs have allowed themselves to be knowable to this point in the season.

Things have improved to some extent in San Antonio, with recent form painting the Spurs as very much a .500 team, and that has allowed their current 14-19 record to actually prove sufficient for them to be holding eighth spot in the West at present.

Whether that holds over the remainder of the season is very difficult to gauge, as this is a roster that is constructed in an unusual manner, and a team that plays with a philosophy that largely runs in opposition to what’s seen elsewhere around the NBA.

Having said that, a Gregg Popovich team should never be underestimated, and players such as LaMarcus Aldridge, DeMar DeRozan, and Patty Mills are certainly capable of delivering the kind of performances that could cause an upset on any given night.
