Paint by numbers

Wednesday night was far from a well executed night for both teams, a slugfest if you will. And the Bucks came away with their third-worst offensive rating for a game this season,

The depleted Warriors, the second-worst NBA team in the league, actually out-shot the Bucks from 3-point range where they went 15-for-38 for the night, good for 39.5 percent.

But where the Bucks were able to shut down the Warriors’ attack was inside the arc and within the paint where they surrendered just 20 paint points, the lowest point total they’ve allowed to an opponent this season.

Of course, that’s far from a surprise, considering the lack of viable offensive weapons the Warriors have at this stage in the season with all of the injuries they’re dealing with in this rebuilding year.  Even still, Golden State only converted seven of their 11 attempts within the restricted area for the night as they played right into the hands of how the Bucks defend.

We all know the Bucks’ interior defense is the league’s best and there’s ample evidence that points to that fact. Considering the circumstances, though, it’s hard to imagine them replicating such a stellar mark against another opponent this season, even if we’ll all be pleasantly surprised to see that be surpassed.

The Bucks will continue their road trip Friday night when they take on the Sacramento Kings for a 9pm CT tip-off at the Golden 1 Center.
