On top with halfway to go

At the halfway mark of their season, the Bucks stand head and shoulders above the rest of the NBA with a league-leading 35-6 record.

The Bucks continue to surpass the standard they set last season in head coach Mike Budenholzer’s first year in charge, and the rest of the NBA hasn’t found a workable strategy to stop the Bucks from achieving their 70-win pace at this point.

According to Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks’ mentality hasn’t changed with the rest of the league hunting for them as Erik Garcia Gundersen of the Associated Press relayed following the Bucks’ win over the Blazers Saturday night:

"“We’re still hunting,” the reigning MVP said. “Obviously teams are going to come and play hard against us. But at the end of the day we have to be the hunters. We have to have that mentality. That’s what we’ve been doing. We’ve won 35 games and played 41. That’s crazy.”"

Bucks All-Star swingman Khris Middleton was quick to point out that championships aren’t won in the regular season, a thing the Bucks know very well from last year. But the Bucks still find themselves in rarefied air and to continue their current pace will be the top goal for Bucks coaches and players over the second half of the year.
