Milwaukee Bucks: 3 things to watch for while hosting Phoenix Suns
Under pressure
All season long, the Suns have built their defense around defending the 3-point line and forcing opposing teams into making miscues.
At this stage, the Suns hold the fourth-highest opponent turnover ratio and have surrendered the fourth-fewest amount of opponent 3-point looks per game this season, per NBA.com/stats. And as a result of the former, the Suns average 18.6 points off turnovers, good for fourth in the league.
Of course, the Suns are kicking off their three-game road trip against a Bucks team that takes care of the ball reasonably well as their 13.8 turnover ratio ranks 10th in the NBA. Along with that, the Bucks have launched the fourth-highest amount of threes this season.
The fatal flaw in the Suns’ defensive scheme is that they’re susceptible to allowing points in the paint to their opponents where they allow 49.7 opposing paint paints this season, a number that ranks the 23rd.
Whether the Bucks could take advantage of the Suns’ struggles defending the interior remains to be seen, but it certainly looks key to how they can turn Phoenix’s tendencies against them.
