Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 129-108 win over Phoenix Suns
Blocking out the Suns
The sun may have finally come out in Milwaukee, but starting Bucks big man Brook Lopez did his damnedest to shut out the Suns, the Phoenix version that is.
Lopez put in a tour de force performance defending the rim and sending away shots endlessly to deliver a career-high performance of nine rejections over the course of the game. And while the Suns may have scored 50 paint points, they sure had to work for their scores to navigate through Milwaukee’s interior defense.
The 31-year-old’s size and physicality wasn’t just a problem on the defensive end as the Bucks and Lopez regularly took advantage of mismatches and converted point-blank finishes at the cup. The one blemish in his offensive services, as has been the case throughout the year, was Lopez’s struggles from the 3-point line.
All in all, Lopez posted 17 points on 16 shots (1-for-6 from deep, 2-for-2 from the foul line), nine blocks, four rebounds, one assist and was a +6 in nearly 33 minutes on the floor.
