Brook is back

Brook Lopez had compiled an outstanding season so far, building an increasingly strong case for why he should be right at the forefront of the league-wide conversation surrounding this year’s Defensive Player of the Year award.

Having said that, Brook’s offense has fallen a long way below the standards he set in his first season in Milwaukee, largely because his three-point shooting hasn’t been anywhere near as effective in this campaign.

On Saturday night in Orlando, though, Brook delivered a long overdue scoring outburst on that end, and one that Bucks fans will hope could fuel a return to form on the offensive end over the remainder of the season.

Playing 32 minutes of action, Lopez finished as a +27 in the box score, piling on a season-high 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field, and a perfect 5-of-5 from three-point range.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo not quite hitting his usual peaks in scoring, nobody stepped up more than Brook in this one, and now the question will be whether he channels that momentums into more of the same going forward.
