Milwaukee Bucks: Midseason grades for every player on the roster
By Adam McGee
Robin Lopez
Stepping into the template that was laid out for him by his twin brother, Robin Lopez has performed admirably in his opening season in Milwaukee.
That extends beyond his play from night to night, and crosses over into how Robin carries himself and generally contributes to the team dynamic and their relentless winning.
Robin’s role is certainly reduced compared to what he’s been accustomed to for most of his career, but he appears to have remained engaged and focused on the task at hand throughout, while becoming one of the most obviously beloved characters within the Bucks’ locker room too.
That shouldn’t lead to his contributions on the court being overlooked, though, as Robin has also thrived in the Bucks’ drop back defensive scheme, as well as excelling more generally in individual matchups with some of the league’s most imposing centers. If any further evidence of his value in that department was needed, his recent matchup with Joel Embiid certainly provided it.
Additionally, although the results haven’t always been positive, RoLo deserves credit for embracing the Bucks’ let it fly mentality, and peppering long-range efforts into his offensive arsenal alongside his trusty hook shot.
His utility moving forward will be matchup dependent, but the fact that he’s already proven his reliability makes that a comfortable spot for the coaching staff and his teammates.
