Milwaukee Bucks: Midseason grades for every player on the roster
By Adam McGee
Donte DiVincenzo
After a rookie season that was significantly curtailed by injuries, Donte DiVincenzo has taken a major step forward so far this year, and completely transformed his potential standing within the Bucks’ long term plans.
DiVincenzo was able to make an impact with his defense and energy when he was healthy as a rookie, and that hasn’t changed this year.
What’s been most encouraging, though, is the improved feel that DiVincenzo has shown offensively. Some of the trademarks of his game in college are starting to look much more legitimate in an NBA context, as Donte’s shooting has improved, and he has embraced responsibility in terms of handling the ball in bursts.
More recently, DiVincenzo’s finishing at the rim has also improved, which was an area of real weakness in his very early beats in the NBA.
With minimal point guard depth, particularly if Hill’s injury issues persist, DiVincenzo’s importance could continue to amplify beyond his already well-established role in the rotation.
