Shoot for 70?

Chasing history will increasingly be a heavy storyline for the Bucks to attain over their final 28 games over the next eight weeks.

Having won a stunning 85.2 percent of their games so far, the Bucks very well could be in line to win 70 games by the end of the season. On top of that, the Bucks have a chance to finish with the best road record in NBA history that was set by the famed 1995-96 Chicago Bulls squad, who went 33-8 on the road that year. Milwaukee is currently 21-5 on the road this year.

Winning 70 games looks to be a tough accomplishment to achieve, especially with plenty of matchups going against their Eastern Conference rivals that are chasing them from below where they’re standing at the top of the East. Add in a potential NBA Finals preview with the Los Angeles Lakers on March 6 and that climb gets a little more tougher.

At the same time, this is a Bucks team that currently has a league-best 14-7 record when facing up against teams that are above .500 this season.

If it were up to Bucks’ co-owner Marc Lasry, the chance to join the hallowed club of 70-win teams would be a priority, as he talked about ESPN’s Eric Woodyard last month during the Bucks’ trip to Paris:

"“I was hoping we’d get to 80. … I know everybody’s happy at 70, but I was going for 80,” Lasry said, laughing. “When we ended up losing a couple more games, I was like, ‘Damn.’ But we’ll see. I’m the wrong person to talk to because I actually think we’re really good, we have all these capabilities, and what’s actually unique about our team is how much it’s a team. “If you sort of think about it, everybody looks out for each other, and everybody sacrifices for the other player. You don’t see that with a lot of NBA teams.”"

The Bucks, of course, could end up doing that without that being a directive, given the talent and cohesion that Lasry alluded to.
