Nuggets in a slump

Having lost three of their lost four games, the Bucks are currently in very unfamiliar territory, but they’re not the only one of the NBA’s top teams currently fighting through something of a rough patch.

The Nuggets are dealing with their own fair share of struggles at present, and if it wasn’t for a Jamal Murray game-winner in the final five seconds against the Charlotte Hornets, Denver would be on a three-game losing streak of their own across matchups with inauspicious opponents such as the Cavaliers and Warriors.

Denver has slipped to third in the Western Conference standings, and with the Jazz currently riding a five-game win streak, and the Thunder and Rockets not too far behind either, they can’t afford any kind of extended downturn to develop over the remainder of the season.

With Nikola Jokic pulling the strings, the Nuggets have the kind of player who can help them to get hot and fuel a great burst of form at any moment. But given how good they’ve generally been for a couple of seasons, the pressure on Denver to actually deliver to that level cannot be overstated.

Even without Giannis, the Bucks likely won’t be a pushover. That leaves a lot of pressure on what will likely be the heavily favored Nuggets on Monday.
