@ Houston Rockets, Oct. 24

Ilyasova’s first performance of the 2019-20 season certainly stands as the frontrunner for his most impactful showing.

The Bucks’ 117-111 comeback victory over the Houston Rockets back on October 24 was certainly an exercise in resiliency for all Bucks players as they spent the vast majority of the night having to battle against the odds en route to an unlikely victory by a number of factors.

As Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo battled through foul trouble and eventually fouled out at the 5:18 mark in the fourth quarter, it was Ilyasova who stepped in for the reigning MVP and played a central role in Milwaukee’s second half comeback. The Turkish veteran didn’t put down his first pair of points until the 1:47 mark of the third quarter, but gave the Bucks a shot in the arm by putting in second chance points as well as hitting shots from both outside and mid-range.

Doing so while putting in a workman-like effort on the glass to eventually finish with a double-double, Ilyasova stood as one of many unsung heroes that all pitched in to make the Bucks’ first game and victory an incredibly memorable way to kick off their sensational run this year.

All in all, Ilyasova finished with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting (1-for-2 from three), 11 rebounds, two turnovers, a block in just over 20 minutes of run off the bench.
