Michael Jordan’s 3 best games against the Milwaukee Bucks
By Adam McGee
Feb. 16, 1989 – Chicago Stadium
With the Bucks leading the Bulls by 12 points heading into the fourth quarter, Michael Jordan produced the kind of brilliance that only he was capable of.
Jordan poured in 27 points in that final period to rack up 50 overall, to go along with eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals, but that wasn’t even as impressive as just how he did it.
Having trailed for the entirety of the second half, Jordan delivered a killer blow with what proved to be the game-winner as he knocked down a mid-range jumper with one second left on the game clock.
Del Harris was left exasperated as his Bucks team turned it over through Paul Pressey off of an inbounds play that should have given them the game’s final possession, and with the ball saved by Terry Cummings, Jordan, the picture of composure as ever, then took the ball down court, dribbled it behind his back, before pulling up from just right of the free throw line to knock down the shot over the arms of the large and flailing figure of Jack Sikma.
It was something of a miraculous escape for Jordan and the Bulls, but with His Airness on the floor, miracles were not a particularly uncommon sight.
With The Last Dance gracing our screens for the next five weeks, don’t be surprised if we end up spending some more time looking at Jordan’s relationship with the Bucks during that span.
