Fit with the Bucks

As we have outlined in previous entries regarding frontcourt players in this draft class, the Bucks will have to address their frontcourt depth some way or another with the questions that exist on this front.

Achiuwa’s rise on draft boards during the pre-draft process certainly leads to the perception that he will be gone by the time the Bucks are on the clock in the first round and that may come to pass.

Still, under the scenario that he may be available, Achiuwa doesn’t stand as a type of player the Bucks have targeted or have tried to identify within this current window.

The ‘pass, dribble, shoot’ edict that Bucks general manager Jon Horst has valued historically when adding through the draft doesn’t really apply to Achiuwa all that much when projecting his fit within the Bucks’ system, at least at this stage of his development.

That isn’t to say the Memphis product doesn’t possesses enticing skills or athleticism, defensive versatility and his endless motor does soften some of the concerns regarding his fit within the Bucks’ system. And Milwaukee’s recent development pedigree in being able to groom promising, raw forwards and/or centers does boost some optimism in this sense.

For as talented as Achiuwa looks to be, in spite of some big questions, the Bucks have operated under a win-now mode for some time now as they have built around superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo throughout all spots of their roster. Barring a change in strategy, Achiuwa doesn’t project to be the seamless fit the Bucks need to fulfill their championship aspirations.
