Milwaukee Bucks NBA Draft Prospect Watch: Desmond Bane – Strengths

At first glance, Bane comes fully equipped with an incredible 3-point shooting stroke, as evidenced by the fact that he’s a 43.3 percent career 3-point shooter and did so while attempting 575 total attempts while in college.

What makes Bane’s shooting skills all the more tantalizing is how he can sink threes at a high rate regardless of whether he’s on or off the ball.

That comes in a variety of ways as Bane’s equally lethal either stepping back into the corner to launch a three or running through screens and hitting shots on either side of the court. And the fact that Bane can already pull up from well behind the NBA 3-point line is, again, another positive tool in his arsenal.

As he showed during his senior year at TCU, Bane is more than just a high-level shooter. The Indiana native took on a more involved role this year and set up the Horned Frogs’ offense and was a solid distributor and posted a 1.67 assist-to-turnover ratio along with a 24.4 usage percentage.

Combine his ability to make great reads and do so on the move as well as his incredible shotmaking, Bane has the makings of an effective pick-and-roll weapon regardless of whichever role he takes on at the next level. And the patience and precision he has in such situations is a distinct advantage as well.

Lastly, thanks to Bane’s size and jacked physical frame, he holds the potential of being able to play positions bigger than his size would suggest. And he also is a strong rebounder as he pulled down 6.2 rebounds per 40 minutes throughout his four years at TCU.
