Vince Carter’s 3 best games against the Milwaukee Bucks – Nets (February 21, 2006)

The golden days of Carter’s career undoubtedly came early on with the Toronto Raptors, but Carter excelled during his time with the New Jersey Nets too, in part because he got to play on some of the best teams he was a part of in his entire career.

Carter arrived in New Jersey just a little too late for the highs of consecutive Finals appearances, but in joining up with Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson, he was a key cog on a highly competitive, consistent playoff team with the Nets.

In a visit to the Bradley Center on February 21, 2006, Carter certainly offered up a reminder of how good he still was as he neared his 30s. In a game that was dominated by Terry Stotts’ Milwaukee squad for the vast majority, all it took was a burst of brilliance from Carter to turn the game on its head.

After an eight-point first half, Carter rolled his ankle coming down from a jump shot early in the third, and then proceeded to pour in 24 more points in the third period alone.

He was far from done, though, as simply getting the Nets back into the game wasn’t to be enough. Instead, Carter continued to go to work throughout the fourth quarter, willing his team to victory.

With a combination of clutch leaners and layups as the clock ticked down, a lead the Bucks had held for most of the game disintegrated. Carter finished with 45 points, nine rebounds, and a couple of steals, and the Nets headed back to New Jersey with a win.
