Vince Carter’s 3 best games against the Milwaukee Bucks – Raptors (November 18, 2000)

If Carter had broken out by earning his first All-Star appearance in his second season, by the time his third campaign as a pro got underway in Toronto, the young phenom had really hit his stride.

A memorable season for Bucks fans that ended in a Conference Finals loss to the 76ers, the 2000-01 was also likely the best season of Carter’s career.

As the Bucks got a taste of in an early season visit to Air Canada Centre on November 18, 2000, Carter was at the peak of his powers that season, essentially able to get to wherever he wanted on the floor, and to make the play he wanted to when he got there.

On a Raptors team that, frankly, skewed on the old side thanks to veterans such as Charles Oakley, Kevin Willis, Mark Jackson, and Dell Curry, Carter was solely responsible for injecting some youthful exuberance, and he certainly managed to do just that.

With Jon McGlocklin marveling in commentary on the Bucks broadcast, and frequently comparing Carter’s heroics to Michael Jordan, the Florida native put on a scoring clinic to guide the Raptors to a hardfought victory against a really good Bucks squad.

Working from the mid-range, behind the arc, the free throw line, and right at the basket, Carter gave the Bucks all that they could handle while pouring in 48 points. But as an example of just how complete Carter was in his prime, it didn’t stop there.

Carter also set up teammates by way of four assists, while making standout defensive plays en route to 10 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.

With the Raptors trailing by four going into the final period, Carter delivered multiple big shots, including a breathtaking reverse layup along the baseline for his final make of the game. This was a truly spectacular performance.
