Milwaukee Bucks: In search of the best Bucks player nicknames – Sidney Moncrief
There are very few players in Bucks history that can match the peak the heights of Sidney Moncrief’s Hall of Fame career.
And to that point, Moncrief may be unparalleled in having multiple quality nicknames, whether it’s ‘Sid the Squid, ‘Sir Sid’ and other plays on Moncrief’s first name.
But it’s ‘Sir Sid’ that ultimately points to the excellence and honored career he enjoyed over his 10 years in Milwaukee. And it was referred to in one of Moncrief’s iconic Nike posters that was designed by the Costacos brothers.
After all, the two-way force that Moncrief was for most of his Bucks stint before knee injuries ultimately cut his NBA career short prematurely made him one of the greatest players to play throughout such a rich decade for the NBA in the 1980’s.
Moncrief may not have had the chance to enjoy the career longevity of some of his peers, but it didn’t prevent him from making such a legendary mark on the Bucks, both on the basketball and nickname front.
