Milwaukee Bucks: Revisiting Donte DiVincenzo’s 2019-20 season so far – Where Donte left off

When the season came to a halt, DiVincenzo was just coming off the back of what was arguably the best stretch of his professional career to date.

Before logging a DNP as one of many surprise changes that Mike Budenholzer made for the Bucks’ final game against the Nuggets, the last game of a Western Conference road trip and a second game of a back-to-back, DiVincenzo had scored in double digits in four consecutive games, matching the longest such streak of his career to date.

That run included 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals against the Pacers, 17 points, four assists, and three rebounds against the Lakers, and 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals against the Suns.

Essentially, that stretch acted as increasing evidence of DiVincenzo growing in comfort as a scorer, in addition to the stellar defense, rebounding, off-ball work, and relentless hustle he was already contributing.

Not only have those attributes made the 23-year-old a favorite of Budenholzer’s, but they’ve also ensured that DiVincenzo is the go-to replacement whenever a backcourt starter misses a game, with his versatility across those two positions incredibly valuable in the Bucks’ system.

Over the Bucks’ last five games, DiVincenzo also made 42.8 percent (9-of-21) on his attempts from deep, which is something Milwaukee would love to see carry over to Orlando.
