Milwaukee Bucks: Revisiting Kyle Korver’s 2019-20 season so far – One big question moving forward
As Korver prepares for what could yet prove to be his final couple of months as an NBA player, he’s very much a known commodity.
If there are questions around Korver, they center around just how he and the Bucks can help each other out in the games ahead.
From a Bucks’ perspective, Korver seems like an ideal candidate to help them to avoid a repeat of their Conference Finals defeat last season. On that occasion, the Bucks failed to knock down open jump shots as the Raptors forced the ball out of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s hands.
Instead of the streaky Nikola Mirotic, an all-time great three-point shooter such as Korver would be well equipped to make opponents pay for leaving Milwaukee’s shooters open.
The other side of the equation sees the onus fall on the Bucks, though. There’s no doubting what Korver will contribute offensively, but can the Bucks do enough to defensively to prevent veteran being targeted repeatedly in mismatches and on switches.
Korver’s defense is better than it gets credit for, particularly off the ball, but his lack of foot speed at this point in his career is an undeniable weakness.
In the end, how Korver and the Bucks can perform to help each other out could prove pivotal to their prospects of winning a long-coveted championship in Orlando.
