Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from 113-92 scrimmage victory over San Antonio Spurs
Takeaways from Milwaukee Bucks’ 113-92 scrimmage victory over Spurs – Quick hitters
Moving on from the star performances of Antetokounmpo, Lopez and Middleton, there were encouraging performances compiled by the Bucks’ many reserves Thursday afternoon.
Chief among them was veteran forward Marvin Williams, who enjoyed a particularly plucky outing with the amount of dirty work he provided. There wasn’t a loose ball on the floor that he didn’t dive for throughout his 14-and-a-half minutes of action. On the whole, though, Williams stood out with his defensive activity on the perimeter and it was nice to see him knock down a triple early on in his run.
While initially coming off the bench, George Hill played as the stable floor general the Bucks needed, especially when their offense didn’t come as easily to them in the first half. He didn’t get anything to fall from three on his two attempts, but all eight of his points came either right at the bucket for tough finishes or at the free throw line.
And finally, Bucks two-way player Frank Mason III didn’t see the floor until the start of the fourth quarter. So while the reigning G League MVP went up against second and third stringers, the blistering pace with which he played at kept the Bucks’ offense humming late in the game and sent him to the line where he went 7-for-8 on the day. And not for nothing, Mason finished with 12 points, knocked his lone triple, and came up with two assists in nearly 10 minutes of burn.
The Bucks will be back in action for the second of their three scrimmages when they play the Sacramento Kings for a 11.30 a.m. clash Saturday morning.
