Milwaukee Bucks takeaways from scrimmage win over Sacramento Kings – Brook ballin’ out

Brook Lopez put in one of the most eye catching performances in the Bucks’ bubble bow against the Spurs on Thursday, as I explored in a little more detail on Saturday morning. Against the Kings, the Bucks’ starting center looked even better again, though.

Once again, Brook looked spry, rested, as physically imposing as ever, and simply locked in on both ends of the court.

After an impressive offensive effort with positive signs from deep against the Spurs, Brook continued in that vein by pouring in 21 points in 19 minutes. Those points included a 4-of-6 barrage from deep, along with steady work inside and at the free throw line.

From the game’s first few minutes, Lopez was also flexing his defensive muscles.

Not only did Lopez deter the Kings from driving to the rim at all for large spells that he was in the game, but he came up with five blocks from the occasions when Sacramento did decide to try their luck. The defense extended further away from the rim too, with Lopez disrupting play out around the perimeter and picking up two steals for good measure.

If the Bucks get something close to this version of Brook in the postseason, it will be a major blow to the rest of the NBA’s collective championship hopes.
