Milwaukee Bucks: Takeaways from scrimmage loss to New Orleans Pelicans – The MVP is ready

While aspects of the Bucks’ overall performance were shaky, that was far from the case for Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Coming off his quiet performance in the Bucks’ win over the Sacramento Kings from the weekend, Antetokounmpo was back to himself attacking the basket at any sight of space between where he was standing and the basket.

While Antetokounmpo wasn’t up to his usual standard converting tough finishes, aside from throwing down a vicious dunk or two, it was his shooting from both the free throw line and beyond the arc that really lifted his performance on the night. It was easily Antetokounmpo’s best shooting night and he finished the scrimmages going 26-for-36 from the foul line, good for 72.2 percent.

All in all, Antetokounmpo finished with a team-leading 30 points on 15 shots (2-for-3 from deep, 12-for-15 from the free throw line), eight rebounds, three assists as well as three turnovers, and one steal in 23 minutes of run.

While the rest will work in his favor, I guarantee that Antetokounmpo is chomping at the bit to get the real games going again and the chance to assert himself as the Most Valuable Player that he has been for the last two years running.
