Takeaways from Milwaukee Bucks’ 119-112 win over Celtics: Brilliant Brook

Brook Lopez was one of the stars of the Bucks’ three game scrimmage slate, and thankfully that carried over into the team’s first game of the regular season restart.

The Bucks’ starting center has certainly had better offensive showings, along with even more dominant defensive displays, but what was most impressive about Brook against Boston was the way in which he made stellar and diverse plays to put in a complete performance.

There were further encouraging signs from deep as Lopez made two of his five attempts from behind the arc, there were moments of old school brilliance in the post, and six emphatic rejections.

What’s particularly striking about Brook since the restart is just how trim he looks, how spry his movement is, and how his first step seems to be about as explosive as anyone could ever hope to see from a seven-foot center.

That was in evidence on Friday when Lopez was tasked with closing out on Celtics around the perimeter, but also with a beautiful drive of his own which looked very far from the glacial speed that had become a trademark of his during his time in Milwaukee.

A final line of 14 points, six blocks, and four rebounds speaks to a job well done by Brook, but also as yet another tantalizing glimpse of one of the Bucks’ most important players arriving in Orlando in fantastic shape and what looks to be a strong run of form.
