Takeaways from Milwaukee Bucks’ 130-116 win over Miami Heat: A game of two halves

What a rollercoaster ride that was. As the Bucks eventually came away with a phenomenally memorable win against the Heat, and one that may well prove to be a defining moment of their season, the game panned out in the form of two of the most distinct and extreme halves that any NBA team could possibly string together in the same game.

At half time, I was confident that Milwaukee had just put in the worst half of Coach Mike Budenholzer’s tenure as head coach. But the truth is there have been so few such lows that there isn’t really a whole lot of competition in that category.

What may be even more interesting is that the Bucks then followed that up with a second half that can legitimately be considered as one of Milwaukee’s very best over that span.

While the first 24 minutes acted as a continuation of the struggles that had plagued the Bucks over their previous two games in Orlando, complete with countless turnovers, wide open Heat triples, et al, the second half was then about as formidable as the Bucks can look.

The Bucks’ defense locked in at its absolute stingiest, the offense fired up with a beautiful and varied mix of looks, and a very, very good Heat team were simply blown out of the water and obliterated.

This game was a dichotomy between the worst and the best of the Bucks, and what we learned was that latter element can allow them to overcome just about everything.
